    Bandits ambush police patrol, kill eight in Zamfara

    Armed bandits killed 5 policemen and three Group Safety Guards throughout a patrol alongside the Gusau–Funtua freeway in Tsafe Native Authorities Space of Zamfara State, residents and officers stated on Friday.

    The assault occurred on Thursday night close to Gidan-Giye village, a couple of kilometres from Tsafe city, when gunmen hiding in close by bushes opened fireplace on a police patrol car, killing all eight occupants on the spot, a resident, Ya’u Musa, informed newsmen.

    “The bandits instantly opened fireplace on the patrol crew. All of the policemen and guards died immediately earlier than the attackers fled on bikes into the forest,” Musa stated.

    He added that the our bodies of the victims have been later taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau, the state capital.

    Native officers stated the slain officers have been connected to the Zamfara State Authorities Home and had been deployed to the Gusau–Funtua Highway to offer safety for travellers following repeated bandit assaults within the space.

    Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal confirmed the incident in a press release posted on his official Fb web page, describing the assault as “an amazing loss to the state.”

    “I simply acquired the unhappy information of the loss of life of eight safety personnel, comprising policemen and Group Safety Guards, who have been ambushed and killed by bandits alongside the Gusau–Funtua Highway,” Lawal wrote. “Could Allah forgive them and grant their households the fortitude to bear the loss.”

    Northwest Nigeria has confronted escalating violence from armed gangs, identified regionally as bandits, who raid villages, kidnap residents for ransom, and goal safety forces within the area’s ongoing safety disaster.
