    Six Nigerian activists arrested throughout the October 1 #EndBadGovernance protests in 2024 have sued the Federal Authorities, difficult restrictions on peaceable meeting. 

    The case, filed underneath Swimsuit No: FHC/KN/CS/41/2025, is earlier than the Federal Excessive Court docket, Kano, and is scheduled for listening to on March 6, 2025.

    The plaintiffs—Comrade Abdulmajid Yakubu Daudu, Barr. Yusha’u Sani Yankuzo, Barr. Amina Bello, Comrade Anas Ado Ahmad, Comrade Sani Ibrahim Narogo, and Comrade Abdullahi Adamu Mandawari—had been arrested on September 30, 2024, by operatives of the Division of State Companies (DSS) and the police in Kano State. They had been taken to Abuja, detained for 2 days, and later launched.

    In response to the Nigeria Patriotic Entrance Motion (NPFM), which initiated the lawsuit, the case seeks to problem the suppression of protests.

    “We’ve got instituted this motion so as to reassert, defend, and advance the rights of Nigerians to peacefully protest with out arrest, molestation, and rights violations by the Respondents and their brokers,” mentioned Barr. Yusha’u Sani Yankuzo.

    The respondents within the swimsuit embrace the Nigeria Police Pressure, the Commissioner of Police Kano State, the State Safety Service (DSS), and the Director of DSS in Kano State.

    The activists argue that restrictions on protests undermine democracy and citizen participation. “We must always not enable the current administration to criminalize protest within the nation,” Yankuzo added.

    NPFM urged public help for the case. “Your solidarity in truth-telling on this case is strongly invited. We should reclaim our rights to peaceable protest earlier than we lose them by default,” the group said.
