The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said that its corruption survey is aimed at assessing the Federal Government’s fight against corruption.The Statistician-General of the Federation, Prince Semiu Adeniran stated this at the Train the Trainers programme for the Third National Survey on Quality and Integrity of Public Services in Nigeria in Abuja on Monday.The Survey is the third of its kind with the first two conducted in 2017 and 2019.Adeniran, represented by the Bureau’s Director of ICT, Mr Biyi Fafunmi, said the training was a significant milestone in efforts to collectively combat the scourge of corruption in Nigeria.He said…

…Five abductors arrested The wife and the two children of the Kwara state House of Assembly member, Hon. Soliu Ayanshola, who were abducted recently have regained freedom, according to top government sources. They reportedly regained their freedom late Wednesday, about 8 pm, following discreet efforts of the security agencies and the Kwara State Government. “At least five members of the gang that abducted them have also been arrested following discreet intelligence and surveillance works by all the teams involved,” one of the sources said. A Special Offences Court, Ike- ja, presided over by Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe, yesterday, sentenced a 25-year-old man, Shittu Babatunde Marvellous, to year imprisonment for engaging in fraudulent activities wherein he presented himself as an investor in crypto currency. The judge arrived at the decision following Marvellous’ guilty plea after being arraigned on a count bothering on possession of fraudulent documents, slammed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Two persons were feared dead yesterday in a fire outbreak which occurred at Nine Energies filling station in Asero, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. New Telegraph learnt that the fire erupted when a medium tanker was offloading diesel into another tanker. It was further gathered that those feared dead in the incident included the driver of the tanker that came to receive the diesel and his assistant.
