    Edo Police Foil Kidnap Try, Rescue Merchants Unhurt

    The Edo State Police Command has foiled a kidnap try alongside the Igarra–Ibillo Freeway in Akoko-Edo Native Authorities Space, rescuing merchants who have been coming back from the Ibillo Market.

    The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, disclosed this in an announcement on Sunday, noting that the swift response of police operatives compelled the abductors to desert their victims and flee into the bush.

    In keeping with him, the incident occurred on Friday, October 17, 2025, at about 8:30 p.m., when suspected kidnappers attacked merchants on their method from the market.

    “On 17/10/2025 at about 20:30hrs, the Command acquired a misery name about suspected kidnappers working alongside the Igarra–Ibillo freeway.

    The DPO Igarra swiftly mobilized operatives, together with the Command’s Operation Rescue Groups, to the scene,” Yamu mentioned.

    He added that the hoodlums opened fireplace upon sighting the advancing safety group however have been overpowered, forcing them to desert their captives and escape into the encompassing forest.

    “All victims have been rescued unhurt, whereas bush-combing operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” the police spokesman added.
