The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking a significant political shift within the state and inside the South-South area.
Governor Diri introduced his resignation on Wednesday throughout a gathering with members of the State Govt Council on the Authorities Home, Yenagoa.
Whereas he didn’t instantly disclose his subsequent political vacation spot, sources near the assembly urged that consultations are ongoing.

His resolution was reportedly backed by 23 members of the Bayelsa State Home of Meeting, led by the Speaker, signaling a coordinated political realignment inside the state.
The transfer comes barely 24 hours after Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah formally dumped the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), fueling hypothesis of a broader wave of defections by opposition leaders to the ruling get together.
As of press time, Governor Diri has not made an official declaration of membership in some other political get together, however insiders recommend an announcement could also be imminent.
