The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 5 folks, together with a bride and groom, for allegedly conducting an unlawful bridal ceremony with out parental consent, an official stated on Monday.
Deputy Commander Common of the board, Dr. Mujahideen Aminuddeen, stated in an announcement that the suspects had been apprehended after organizing what authorities described as an illegal union that did not adjust to Islamic and authorized marital procedures.
“The wedding was contracted with a dowry of ₦10,000, which is under the minimal threshold recognised underneath Islamic authorized requirements,” Aminuddeen stated.
He added that the Hisbah Board had launched an investigation into the matter and warned that such acts might undermine the sanctity of marriage in Islam.
Aminuddeen urged mother and father to be extra vigilant about their youngsters’s social actions and to supply steering in marriage-related issues.
The arrest comes days after the Kano State authorities directed the Hisbah Board to start preparations for a mass wedding ceremony involving about 2,000 {couples} underneath a state-sponsored programme.
