    Soldier Kills Spouse, Commits Suicide At Wawa Cantonment

    The Nigerian Military has confirmed the tragic loss of life of considered one of its personnel, Lance Corporal Akenleye Femi, who allegedly killed his spouse earlier than taking his personal life on the Wawa Cantonment in Niger State.

    In line with a press release issued on Monday by Captain Stephen Nwankwo, Performing Assistant Director, Military Public Relations, 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, the incident occurred on October 11, 2025, at Block 15, Room 24, Corporals and Under Quarters inside the cantonment.

    The Military disclosed that each Femi and his spouse had been discovered useless of their condo beneath circumstances which have left residents of the barracks in shock.

    Preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier was on obligation inside the cantonment however had sought permission from his superior to attend to private issues earlier than the tragic discovery.

    “The stays of the deceased have been preserved, whereas an in-depth investigation has commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the assertion learn.

    Brigadier Common Ezra Barkins, Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, expressed remorse over the unlucky incident and prolonged condolences to the households, colleagues, and buddies of the deceased couple.

    He assured that the Military will totally examine the case and make the findings public.

    “The Nigerian Military deeply regrets this tragic occasion and prays for the peaceable repose of their souls. Measures may also be put in place to forestall a recurrence,” the assertion added.

    The Military additional appealed for public understanding and cooperation because it continues investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
