    Bye-Elections: LP Accuses Obi Of Sabotage, Says Party Nonetheless On Poll

    The Labour Party (LP) has dismissed directives by its former presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, asking celebration members to vote for one more celebration within the August 16, 2025 bye-election.

    In an announcement signed by the Nationwide Chairman, Barr. Julius Abure, the LP described Obi’s feedback as “deceptive, mischievous, and delusional,” urging members and supporters to ignore them and vote for the celebration’s candidates.

    The LP accused Obi of instigating and funding inside crises throughout the celebration, citing the controversial expanded stakeholders’ assembly in Umuahia on September 4, 2024, which the celebration claims was unlawful.

    The assertion additional alleged that Obi had protested in opposition to his personal celebration on the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) headquarters and was now making an attempt to undermine LP’s possibilities within the bye-election.

    “It’s unlucky that Obi has turned himself into an irony and paradox in Nigerian politics,” the assertion learn, accusing him of “political subterfuge” and of being an “Uber politician” unwilling to take a agency stand.

    Abure maintained that Labour Party candidates are legally cleared to contest within the bye-elections throughout affected states and can proceed to be on the poll for future polls.

    “We name on our members, supporters, and candidates to stay targeted and guarantee Labour Party’s victory,” Abure mentioned. “Nigerians have now seen who Peter Obi really is.”

    The celebration urged voters in all states holding bye-elections to “perform their civic responsibility” by voting Labour Party candidates.
