The 2023 Labour Party Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Friday praised the resignation of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje. He stressed that the country could no longer afford “medical tourism, long vacations or absences due to old age”.

Finally, he prayed for Ganduje’s retirement and wished him a healthy and peaceful life.

“In view of his declining health, it is wise and an honourable move to resign as he may no longer be able to perform the duties entrusted to him by the party, the people and the country.

“This outstanding move by Dr Ganduje is a challenge to other leaders who are unable to perform at their best due to poor health. I sincerely hope that they will follow his example.

“Such things have seriously affected our development. May the Almighty grant Dr Ganduje a peaceful and fulfilling retirement,” he said.
