    Lagos Govt impounds automobiles dumping waste in canal at Iba-Igando, offenders to face prosecution

    The Lagos State Authorities has impounded two automobiles caught illegally dumping waste right into a canal on the Iba-Igando Hyperlink Bridge alongside the Lagos-Badagry Street, with the offenders set to face prosecution.

    The Commissioner condemned the reckless dumping, emphasizing that it endangers lives, causes flooding, and damages the atmosphere. He careworn the Lagos State Authorities’s zero-tolerance coverage on air pollution and inspired residents to take accountability by reporting such offenses.

    “Dumping waste into our waterways/canals isn’t solely reckless, it endangers lives, causes flooding, and destroys our surroundings,” Wahab’s put up said.

    He additionally inspired residents to assist these initiatives by avoiding unlawful dumping and promptly reporting offenders.

    Unlawful dumping of refuse has lengthy plagued Lagos, contributing to flooding, blocked drainage channels, and environmental degradation.

    Over the previous few months, officers from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) and the Ministry of Surroundings and Water Sources have apprehended a number of people and companies concerned on this offence.
