    Tinubu Commissions Two New Assault Helicopters for NAF

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned two new assault helicopters to strengthen Nigeria’s ongoing efforts in tackling insecurity throughout the nation. 

    The commissioning, which coincided with the Nigerian Air Power’s 61st anniversary, was held in Abuja and attended on the President’s behalf by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

    The newly inducted helicopters, designated NAF544 and NAF545, have been described as important additions to the Air Power fleet, geared toward enhancing the navy’s capability to reply swiftly and decisively to safety threats.

    Their arrival alerts a renewed push by the federal authorities to help frontline troops with superior gear.

    Through the occasion, Chief of the Air Workers, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, disclosed that the Nigerian Air Power is about to obtain 49 extra plane by 2027.

    He stated 9 of these have already arrived since 2024, which embrace 4 T-129 assault helicopters, three King Air 360 surveillance plane, and the 2 Agusta 109 Trekker helicopters commissioned on the ceremony.

    “These procurements mirror Mr President’s unwavering dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s safety structure,” Air Marshal Abubakar stated, emphasizing that the Air Power stays resolute in deploying the brand new belongings effectively to assist nationwide defence and counter-insurgency operations.
