Mrs. Aisha Ahmed, the Bureau Chief of the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse, has been elected Secretary of the Jigawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in an election held on Monday in Dutse.
Ahmed is a registered member of the NUJ. She beforehand served as Vice Chairperson of the Nigeria Affiliation of Ladies Journalists (NAWOJ) in Kano and likewise held the place of Secretary on the Jigawa State Correspondents’ Chapel.
Others elected embody Sama’ila Ibrahim as Chairman, Nura Bello as Vice Chairman, and Muhammed Shuwajo of Freedom Radio as Assistant Secretary.
Najib Umar was elected Monetary Secretary, whereas Auwal Muhammed Kazaure turned the Treasurer.
In his acceptance speech, the brand new Chairman, Sama’ila Ibrahim, mentioned he would run an open administration and contain all members of the union.
He mentioned he would concentrate on reviving the state council and prioritize members’ welfare, stressing the significance of moral conduct and professionalism.
The Vice President, Zone A of the NUJ, Muhammad Tukur, whereas commenting after the election, urged the brand new leaders to make sure transparency and accountability.
Mr. Tukur suggested the brand new council executives to hold all members alongside and uphold moral journalism in Jigawa State.
