    Atiku Knocks EFCC Over Detention Of Ex-Lawmaker

    The previous Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Folks’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has accused the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee (EFCC) of “Brazen disregard for due course of” within the arrest and continued detention of former federal lawmaker, Hon. Muhammad Kazaure.

    Atiku, in a strongly worded assertion issued on his official X web page, described the EFCC’s actions as a troubling continuation of what he referred to as a “Sample of lawlessness” below the present administration.

    He alleged that Kazaure, a vocal critic of President Bola Tinubu, was “Kidnapped in Kano State and whisked away to Abuja,” the place he stays in detention with out formal costs or entry to authorized counsel or household.

    Atiku questioned the legality of Kazaure’s detention, describing it as a transparent violation of constitutional rights. “Even when there have been professional grounds for arresting any citizen, such motion should adhere strictly to the rule of regulation.

    “The EFCC is duty-bound to publicly disclose the explanations for any arrest and should not detain people indefinitely below the guise of investigation.”

    He additional claimed that Kazaure’s detention is politically motivated, stemming from his criticism of the Tinubu administration. “We’re left with no selection however to conclude that Kazaure’s ordeal is a direct consequence of his fearless and unrelenting criticism of this administration.”

    Atiku accused the federal authorities of working with double requirements—shielding allies implicated in corruption whereas concentrating on opposition voices. “This authorities’s hypocrisy is as staggering as it’s shameless: whereas it strikes cosy offers with politically related figures tainted by corruption, it unleashes the equipment of the state to harass and silence its critics.”
