    Diri Warns Political Appointees In opposition to Untimely Campaigning, Threatens Sack

    Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has issued a stern warning to all political appointees within the State, declaring that anybody who makes public statements or engages in political actions associated to the 2027 elections forward of the official timetable by the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) might be summarily dismissed.

    Governor Diri made the declaration throughout the 162nd session of the State Govt Council assembly held on Wednesday on the Govt Council Chambers, Authorities Home, Yenagoa.

    Expressing concern over what he described as untimely politicking and makes an attempt to overheat the polity, the governor reminded appointees that the present focus of his administration stays governance and growth, not electoral campaigns.

    “Going ahead, any political appointee that goes on air to speak about 2027 politics might be sacked,” Diri said, including, “I counsel all of us to chorus from politicking and look forward to INEC’s tips, notably for political appointees. If you wish to warmth up the polity, please resign.”

    In an announcement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, the governor emphasised that political ambitions should align with the rule of regulation and the electoral fee’s stipulated timeline.

    “Even the Bible tells us there’s a time for every part. That is the time for governance,” Diri famous. “We can’t be doing politics from January to December yearly. Elections are in 2027, but some people are already posturing publicly. That should cease.”

    He additional cautioned non-appointees to deal with significant financial actions somewhat than participating in unproductive political chatter, saying: “For non-appointees, please search for different financial actions that can carry growth to our expensive State.”

    The governor reiterated that “energy comes from God” and urged persistence from these nursing political ambitions. “There’s a timetable for political actions to begin. When INEC releases it, everybody might be free to play politics. However till then, political feedback on radio, social media or elsewhere by appointees won’t be tolerated.”

    Diri concluded by placing all appointees on discover that any violation of this directive will appeal to quick disciplinary motion, no matter standing or workplace.
