    WSCIJ Appoints Prof. Umaru Pate to Board of Trustees

    The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) has invited Professor Umaru Pate, Vice Chancellor of the Federal College Kashere, to affix its Board of Trustees.  

    The invitation, prolonged by the Centre’s Govt Director, Motunrayo Alaka, acknowledges Professor Pate’s function in Nigeria’s media panorama, civic house, and investigative journalism.

    In a letter addressed to Professor Pate, Alaka acknowledged his profession as a media scholar, improvement professional, and human rights advocate.

    “It’s with nice pleasure and deep respect that I write on behalf of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), to ask you to affix the Board of Trustees of the organisation,” the letter said. “In selecting you, the Search Committee cited your years of dedication to the expansion of Nigeria, its media, and its civic house.”

    The WSCIJ, named after Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, is a non-profit group targeted on investigative journalism as a software for democracy and governance.

    “As a member of the Board of Trustees, you’ll play a important function in shaping the way forward for WSCIJ by offering strategic oversight, funds drive, and sustainability help for our mission,” the letter additional said.

    Professor Pate will be a part of different professionals working to strengthen press freedom and civic engagement. His expertise is anticipated to contribute to WSCIJ’s future route.

    Alaka concluded by urging Professor Pate to simply accept the supply. “I might be honoured to have you ever settle for this invitation and be a part of a distinguished group of pros who’re passionate concerning the transformative energy of investigative journalism,” she wrote.
