The operatives of Yobe State Command of the Nigeria Police Drive. has apprehended three suspected Automated Teller Machine (ATM) fraudsters within the state
This was contained in a press assertion issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Dungus Abdulkarim on Saturday in Damaturu, the state capital.
In keeping with the assertion, the arrests marked a major breakthrough in its combat in opposition to cybercrime and associated offences within the state.
“On December 6, 2024, the State Intelligence Division (SID) apprehended three suspects – Sani Kasim, 35, Nura Umaru, 24, and Umar Suleman, 22 – for his or her involvement in a prison syndicate that focused ATM customers within the state”, DSP Abdulkarim mentioned.

In keeping with him, the suspects, who confessed to the crime, used intelligent ways to trick unsuspecting financial institution prospects into revealing their PIN numbers whereas utilizing ATMs.
“They’d provide to help the financial institution prospects, then swap their ATM playing cards and withdraw money from their accounts”, he added.
The PPRO mentioned gadgets recovered from the suspects embrace: 47 ATM playing cards, 4 cellphones, and a Mercedes Benz car.
