    Kano Federal Lawmakers Reject Tinubu’s Controversial Tax Reform Invoice

    Federal lawmakers from Kano State have opposed the controversial Tax Reform Invoice, which lately handed its second studying within the Nationwide Meeting.

    The choice was reached throughout a state caucus assembly chaired by Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and attended by many of the state’s representatives.

    Hon. Idris Dankawu, the member representing Kumbotso Federal Constituency, said, “To make clear this problem, I need to inform the folks of Kano State, particularly the residents of Kumbotso Federal Constituency, that based mostly on the end result of our assembly, we’re in opposition to the proposed Tax Reform Invoice.     The lawmakers are actively working to problem the invoice, citing its potential damaging impacts on residents of Kano State.

    The 4 payments, transmitted to the Nationwide Meeting by President Bola Tinubu on September 3, have sparked widespread controversy and robust opposition.

    These payments embody the Nigeria Tax Invoice 2024, the Tax Administration Invoice, the Nigeria Income Service Institution Invoice, and the Joint Income Board Institution Invoice.

    Critics, together with the Northern Governors Discussion board, the Conventional Rulers Council, the Nationwide Financial Council, and the Northern Elders Discussion board, have raised severe considerations in regards to the payments.

    The Nationwide Financial Council, comprising the vice chairman and governors, has suggested the president to withdraw the payments for additional consultations. The governors argue that some clauses within the payments are detrimental to the northern area.

    Whereas the Senate allowed the payments to move their second studying, the Home of Representatives halted their progress because of heated debates and confrontations. Lawmakers throughout occasion strains reportedly resisted makes an attempt by the Home management to advance the payments additional.
