    Group Urges Nigerians To Collaborate With Police To Examine Crime Price

    A non governmental Organisation (NGO), Rule of Regulation and Empowerment Initiative, has referred to as on Nigerians to collaborate with the Police in checking crimes as there was no substitute to them.

    The group also referred to as Companions West Africa Nigeria (PWAN), made the decision throughout their first media city corridor assembly on human rights, the Police Act 2020 and Regulation in Lagos yesterday in Lagos.

    No fewer than 60 journalists drawn from completely different media organisations in South-West participated within the assembly. One of many facilitators of the assembly, Mr. Tosin Osasona, who spoke with our correspondent on the sidelines of the assembly, identified that there was no substitute to the police in checking crimes in Nigeria.

    “Regardless of how dangerous we might imagine our police are, we actually don’t have an alternative to them. Police should know that their legitimacy comes from acceptance by the individuals.

    “The distinction between the police in uniform and armed theft is the uniform they’re placing on that legitimised them to make use of energy over residents.

    “Police should know that they’re the servants of the individuals, you don’t must intimidate and violate their rights whereas on uni- type.”

    In accordance with Osasona, the assembly is to offer capability for journalists to grasp structure equipment of the police and capability constructing for making a platform for none contentious engagement between the police and the residents.

    “We all know the ability of the po- lice and the boundaries of the residents, it’s the responsibility of the media to maintain pushing these bounds.
