    Japa: Man In Courtroom For Allegedly Defrauding Emigrant Of N15m

    The Police yesterday arraigned a 38-year-old man, Babafemi Ogundele, earlier than an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Courtroom, Ibadan, Oyo State over an alleged N15 million fraud.

    The defendant, whose home handle was not disclosed, is being tried on prices bordering on acquiring by false pretence, stealing, risk to life and impersonation.

    Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Akeem Akinloye, informed the courtroom that the defendant had, someday in June, defrauded the complainant, one Jacob Joshua, of $10,000 (about N15 million).

    Akinloye mentioned that the complainant had paid the defendant the quantity to facilitate his (complainant’s) proof of funds to allow him journey to United States of America. He mentioned that the defendant fraudulently transformed the cash to his personal use and squandered it on playing.

    The prosecutor mentioned that the defendant offered himself as a medical physician to the complainant, with the intent to defraud him.

    He additionally mentioned that the defendant, thereafter, threatened the complainant’s life when he demanded for a refund of his cash. In accordance with him, the offences contravene Sections 86(1), 383, 419 and 484 of the Prison Code Legal guidelines of Oyo State, 2000. The defendant, nevertheless, pleaded not responsible to the fees.

    The Chief Justice of the Peace, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admitted the defendant to bail within the sum of N7.5 million, with two sureties in like sum.
