    Lagos Removes Shanties Alongside Drainage Setbacks On Adeniji Adele To Mitigate Flooding

    The Lagos State Authorities has begun eradicating shanties alongside the drainage setbacks at Adeniji Adele in Lagos Island. This effort goals to revive the performance of the drainage system and keep environmental sanity.

    The operation which was introduced by the State Commissioner for Setting and Water Assets, Tokunbo Wahab, through his official X (previously Twitter) account, famous that yesterday, the State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), mobilised its personnel to dismantle the obstructive buildings.

    Wahab’s tweet said, “Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps @ LAGESCOfficial commenced operations eradicating shanties on the setback of drainage at Adeniji Adele.”

    The tweet included video footage exhibiting LAGESC operatives dismantling wood shanties alongside the open drainage setbacks. The state authorities has ramped up its marketing campaign to eradicate shanties and unlawful buildings throughout the state, aiming to deal with environmental violations, curb unauthorised encampments, and foster city renewal.

    Not too long ago, the state Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) demolished 138 shanties positioned alongside the canal financial institution in Ajao Property, the place occupants have been reportedly paying annual rents starting from N60,000 to N100,000 account, famous that yesterday, the State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), mobilised its personnel to dismantle the obstructive buildings.
