Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has stated that the improper instructing of Islamic research performed a major position within the emergence of the Boko Haram insurgency within the state.
He made the comment whereas opening a summit on reforming the Almajiri Training System in Borno on Wednesday.
Zulum emphasised that the summit goals to deal with the challenges of the Almajiri schooling system, a conventional Islamic studying methodology prevalent throughout northern Nigeria.
To mitigate the adverse impacts of the Almajiri schooling system, Zulum revealed that the Borno State Authorities has established the Arabic and Sangaya Training Board, which has launched a unified curriculum for Sangaya and Islamic colleges.
“The Sangaya Reform is a good growth and can give Almajiri a greater likelihood in life, significantly by way of the combination of western schooling, vocational coaching, in addition to numeracy and literacy expertise into these centres, that are also called Almajiri and Islamic colleges,” Zulum stated.
He additional defined, “Distinguished visitors and esteemed educationists, the federal government intends to streamline the casual and formal schooling methods to create high quality built-in Sangaya colleges for admission into schools and universities.”
“This summit supplies a platform for members to debate points, share insights, and suggest actionable options to the challenges confronted by the Almajiri schooling system,” he added.
