An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Courtroom in Osun State, yesterday, ordered the remand of a 42-year-old man, Gbenga Elenpe, for allegedly defiling a 7-year-old lady (identify withheld).
The Justice of the Peace, Mrs Bosede Sarunmi, ordered the remand of Elenpe within the correctional centre in Ile-Ife after he pleaded not responsible to the costs of defilement and indecent sexual assault.
The trial Justice of the Peace denied the bail utility of the defendant and ordered that the case file must be for- warded to the workplace of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for authorized recommendation.
She subsequently adjourned the case till Jan 13, for point out. Earlier, the Prosecution counsel, PC Ayinde Ayuba, knowledgeable the courtroom that Elenpe allegedly dedicated the offences on Oct. 26 at 3:00 p.m, at Fajuyi space, Ile-Ife.
Ayuba stated that the defendant unlawfully took undue benefit of the minor (identify withheld) and sexually exploited her. He added that the defendant unlaw- totally and indecently assaulted the lady.
Ayuba stated that the offences contravened Part 2(2) of the Violence Towards Individuals (prohibition) Legal guidelines of Osun, 2021. The Prosecutor acknowledged additional that the offence was additionally opposite to part 32 of the Little one’s Proper Legal guidelines of Osun, 2007.
