    UNICEF empowers almost 9 million Nigerian youths in digital studying, abilities improvement

    Era Limitless Nigeria (GenU 9JA), a collaborative platform led by the United Nations Youngsters’s Fund (UNICEF), has empowered almost 9 million Nigerian youths in digital studying, abilities improvement and livelihood pathways.

    This bold Public-Personal-Youth-Partnership (PPYP) initiative is designed to assist younger folks transition easily from training to productive employment and energetic citizenship.

    Cristian Munduate, UNICEF Nigeria Consultant, mentioned this on the Group’s annual Steering Committee assembly in Lagos to rejoice three years of groundbreaking achievements and set bold targets for the long run.

    The assembly reaffirmed GenU 9JA’s dedication to remodeling the lives of hundreds of thousands of Nigerian youths by connecting them to alternatives for abilities improvement, digital studying, and livelihood pathways.

    The committee reviewed progress throughout the initiative’s three core pillars: Connectivity and Digital Studying, Office Readiness, and Youth Engagement, as key companions introduced updates on their respective contributions, underlining how collaboration has pushed success.

    The assembly was attended by GenU 9JA companions from the federal government, non-public sector, civil society, UN organisations, and younger folks from throughout Nigeria.

    Munduate, who reiterated the urgency for continued funding in youth, mentioned that since its inception, UNICEF GenU 9JA had empowered almost 9 million younger Nigerians, surpassing the three-year goal of seven.5 million.

    “The way forward for any nation lies within the fingers of its kids and youth. By offering abilities, alternatives, and a platform for engagement, we aren’t solely altering particular person lives but in addition shaping a brighter future for Nigeria,” Munduate mentioned.

    Talking, the Chief Govt Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Carl Cruz, emphasised the transformative potential of digital entry, citing the continuing UNICEF-Airtel Reimagine Training Programme, part of the GenU 9JA initiative.

    “Airtel is proud to play a task in making certain no younger Nigerian is left behind on this digital age. 

    “We’re inspired by the success recorded to this point among the many 1,260 colleges related by our partnership,” he mentioned.

    The Chief Govt Officer of Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), Somachi Chris-Asoluka,  highlighted the impression of youth entrepreneurship:

    “Younger individuals are the engines of Africa’s financial transformation. Since 2015, the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme has empowered over 20,000 younger entrepreneurs, creating greater than 400,000 jobs. 

    “Our BeGreen Africa initiative will now assist over 400 younger entrepreneurs in Nigeria, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, and South Africa, with green-focused coaching, mentorship and seed capital to advance sustainable ventures,” Chris-Asoluka mentioned.

    The committee concluded with a name for continued funding in Nigeria’s youth, urging the federal government, non-public sector and civil society to additional their assist for younger folks by making certain they have been ready for significant contributions to Nigeria’s improvement.
