It was a surprising incident yesterday on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, when a industrial bus driver set himself, his bus and a LASTMA officer on fireplace in an try to evade arrest for an alleged site visitors offence.
The motive force, whose identification has not been disclosed, was intercepted by officers of the Lagos State Visitors Administration Authority (LASTMA), for allegedly violating site visitors rules on the Cele inward Mile-2 space of the highway.
Based on LASTMA Basic Supervisor, Olalekan Bakare Oki, the driving force and his conductor resisted arrest with excessive aggression, resulting in the horrific incident. The bus, a Volkswagen T4 with license plate LSD 355 CK, was utterly destroyed within the fireplace.
Bakare-Oki said: “The Lagos State Visitors Administration Authority, LASTMA, has been made conscious of a distressing video displaying the driving force of a Volkswagen T4 industrial bus, license plate LSD 355 CK, setting each his automobile and LASTMA officers ablaze in a brazen try to evade arrest.
“This surprising incident occurred on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, when the driving force resisted arrest with excessive aggression by LASTMA officers.
“The automobile had been intercepted for violating site visitors rules within the Cele inward Mile-2 space. “In the midst of arrest, the driving force and his conductor erupted into frenzy, resorting to pouring petrol on LASTMA personnel and interesting in hostile confrontations and bodily assaults in opposition to officers current.
