The Rivers State Police Command has arrested three feminine Inspectors for allegedly extorting motorists on the Rumuokoro space of Obio/Akpor Native Authorities Space, following complaints on the social media after a video recording captured them within the act.
The police mentioned they had been arrested on Tuesday following a coordinated monitoring patrol by males of the Commissioner of Police staff.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, who disclosed this in an announcement, mentioned the video recording is a transparent proof of their actions, which she described as unprofessional, particularly as they weren’t in uniform.
She mentioned that the law enforcement officials have been detained and awaiting disciplinary measures. The assertion mentioned: “The Rivers State Police Command has arrested three of its officers following a coordinated monitoring patrol by operatives from the Commissioner of Police staff, CP Monitoring Unit on October 29.
“The operation, conduct – ed below the Rumuokoro Flyover round 3 pm, led to the arrest of Inspector Sarah Anendei, Inspector Caroline Promise and Inspector Christiana Jatau, who had been caught partaking in a corrupt apply towards harmless motorists below the flyover.
“Two of the officers, Inspectors Caroline Promise and Christiana Jatau, had been discovered conducting this unprofessional behaviour whereas out of uniform, additional contravening police requirements.
