A member of the Home of Representatives representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, Abubakar Gumi has defected from the Folks’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gumi’s defection was introduced by the Speaker of the Home, Tajudeen Abbas on Wednesday through the plenary.
Talking on their defection, Gumi cited inner crises as the rationale behind his departure from the PDP.
Nevertheless, the APC has strengthened its majority within the Home of Representatives with this newest improvement.

Gumi highlighted points inside the PDP, mentioning twin chairmanship in his constituency and a scarcity of celebration construction in Zamfara, elements that contributed to his determination.
“The Honourable member acknowledged that there are two PDP Chairmen in his constituency, including to the inner and exterior disaster inside the celebration in his State,” Speaker Abbas stated.
The defection drew applause from APC members whereas the Minority Chief, Kingsley Chinda, raised a constitutional level of order.
Chinda emphasised the authorized process for addressing celebration defections.
Gumi’s transfer to the APC comes simply two weeks after his appointment as Chairman of the Home Committee on the North-West Improvement Fee, solidifying his function inside the ruling celebration.
