    President Tinubu approves N10 billion for FCT youth empowerment

    President Bola Tinubu has authorised N10 billion Youth Improvement Fund geared toward empowering youths within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    This was disclosed by the Minister of the FCT, Mr. Nyesom Wike, on Monday whereas inaugurating the upgrading of Struggle School/Military Checkpoint Highway and different ancillary roads in Ushafa, Bwari Space Council, Abuja.

    The minister said that the youth empowerment program, slated for inauguration on Thursday, is a part of the federal authorities’s youth empowerment coverage.

    The minister recalled that Tinubu created the Girls Affairs Secretariat and the Youth Improvement Secretariat, and appointed a youth to move the youth secretariat.

    He emphasised that the president is conscious of youth development within the FCT.

    Wike introduced that the quantity is a part of the FCT’s supplementary funds, urging residents to assist the Tinubu-led administration’s initiative.

    “This has by no means occurred within the historical past of the FCT. Moreover, Mr. President insisted that there should be a Youth Improvement Fund to assist the youth develop. 

    “Mr. President has authorised, for a begin, N10 billion to see how the youth shall be empowered. We’re joyful there are indicators that issues will get higher,” he added. 

    Nairametrics beforehand reported that Wike had sought the approval of the Nationwide Meeting to spend N61.6 billion from the 2023 supplementary funds on precedence initiatives within the Federal Capital Territory.

    This approval adopted the assessment of the mixed report from the Senate and Home of Representatives Committees on FCT throughout the Tuesday plenary session.

    Sen. Ibrahim Bomai, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT, offered the report, noting the preliminary proposal of N1.15 trillion for the FCT’s 2024 funds.
