Archdeacon of Oyi Central, Archdeacon of the Anglican Church of England and Vicar of St. James Parish, Awkuzu, Ven. David Arinze Ajaefobi has been kidnapped by gunmen.
The kidnapping reportedly took place at about 9:00pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the entrance of St. James Parish, Awkuzu, in the Oyi Local Government Area of the State Anambra. The church is yet to issue a statement on the priest’s kidnapping.
As of press time yesterday, no contact had been made with the church or relatives of the victim. When contacted for comment, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the police had not received any report of the incident.
Meanwhile, the church has initiated prayers for the safe release of the victim.
