The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command has confirmed the arrest of five persons for allegedly raping mostly underage girls in their various locations.
Jerry Victor, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, disclosed this while presenting the suspects in Lafia, the state capital.
Speaking on their arrest, Victor said the suspects committed the alleged offenses at various intervals within Nasarawa Eggon and Awe Local Government Areas of the State.
The PPRO emphasized that the most egregious case involved the 15-year-old John Ishaku, who purportedly raped an 8-year-old girl in Nasarawa Eggon.

“The mother got to know the next day when the victim was walking, not normal, and immediately when she inquired from the little girl, it was then that the little girl had to open up to her that this is what the suspect, John Ishaku, did to her.
“Upon examination, she got to understand that there was a tear in her private part and she rushed her to the hospital. Upon examining her by the doctor, the doctor felt that it is very necessary to get the security agencies to get involved in the matter” he said.
The NSCDC further revealed that a primary school teacher named Abdulwahab Bello and an individual known as Taimako reportedly raped an 8-year-old and a 13-year-old girl, respectively, in their respective localities.
Victor reaffirmed that the command is prepared to finalize the investigations and ensure that the suspects are prosecuted in a court of law..
He asked parents to monitor the movements of their children.
“Parents should monitor the movements of their children, especially the female ones. We all know that they need more care than their male counterparts,” the PPRO said.
