Dr Comfort Adokwe, the abducted Nasarawa State University lecturer, has regained her freedom from her abductors.
New Telegraph had earlier reported that Dr Adokwe, a lecturer in the Faculty of Administration and the Deputy Director of Gender Studies at Nasarawa State University, was kidnapped on Sunday night from her residence in Angwan Jaba, Keffi, by gunmen.
Speaking with newsmen on the phone on Tuesday night, Timothy Adokwe, brother to Comfort, confirmed the release.
“Yes, she was released around 8:30,” he said.
According to him, the kidnappers initially demanded a N100 million ransom.

He confirmed that the family paid an undisclosed amount to secure her freedom.
Timothy commended the military and the Department of State Services, DSS, for their role in securing his sister’s release. He mentioned that they monitored the situation through satellite as they were unable to approach the location to prevent any harm to Comfort.
“Actually, the police were not there, but the military and the DSS were involved, but at the outskirts, because they tried to monitor from their satellite and know the location, but you know, they can’t just enter directly,” he said.
Adokwe mentioned that his sister had been transported to an undisclosed hospital for a medical examination. He added that she is safe, has reconnected with her husband and daughter, and is reportedly in good health.
He urged the government to ensure development reaches some areas dominated by kidnappers.
He said the VC of the university who was kidnapped in the past was rescued from the same location.
